I announced in my last post that I had started posting to my channel and it’s been one month since I started. One month in and I have 500 views and 28 followers.
I know I’m not setting the YouTube world on fire, but hey, 28 followers is a over-filled traditional classroom. I am happy with that.
One month in and I have been learning a lot. My biggest take-away after one month is that I am a really bad “talking head”. I need a lot more practice being in front of a camera and speaking. All the YouTubers say that you’ll suck when you start and they aren’t wrong. I’ve been increasing my knowledge of lighting, audio and videography skills, Oh yeah… storytelling, that’s also something I have to work on.
So far I have been keeping it simple with my initial videos. My last video was a lot more complicated and longer. I shot A and B roll video to edit together, recorded voice over, worked in transitions and used a different cover art format. So much to learn and practice.
I’m going to be busy for the next few years with this goal.
